Events related to the BIOLYFE project and second generation biofuels
23-26 June 2014
22nd European Biomass Conference and Exhibition, Hamburg, Germany
The Conference provides a high-level scientific programme and parallel events which attract participants from a wide-ranging background: researchers, engineers, technologists, standards organisations, financial institutions, policy makers and decision makers.
This event is supported by European and international organizations. The Technical Programme is coordinated by DG Joint Research Centre of the European Commission.
3 December 2013
Final BIOLYFE Conference, Brussels, Belgium
The BIOLYFE consortium organised the Final BIOLYFE Conference on 4th December 2013 in Brussels. The conference attracted over 30 participants from all over Europe.
The goal of this conference was to provide an insight in the realisation of the world’s largest lignocellulosic bioethanol plant and discuss critical success factors for commercial-scale second generation bioethanol production worldwide.
Please see Issue 13 of the BIOLYFE newsletter for a brief workshop report.
4 June 2013 2nd BIOLYFE Conference, Copenhagen, Denmark
The goal of this conference was to provide an insight into second generation bioethanol production. The focus of the conference was on technological issues related to the production of second generation bioethanol at the demo-plant in Crescentino, Italy.
Please see Issue 12 of the BIOLYFE newsletter for a brief workshop report.
3-7 June 2013 21st European Biomass Conference and Exhibition, Copenhagen, Denmark
The Conference discussed major issues for the biomass markets, in technical and business areas, from resource assessment to market and policy developments, drawing on leading experiences from all over Europe and worldwide.
3 April 2013 BIOLYFE SWOT Workshop, Madrid, Spain
The workshop completed a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis that was conducted in the framework of the BIOLYFE project. The focus was on feedstock provision, but challenges and opportunities for biomass processing were also debated. To achieve the aims of the workshop, participants received an overview of preliminary BIOLYFE SWOT results. Afterwards, in an interactive forum, attendees were invited to participate in open discussion, contributing their thoughts and opinions on different topics.
Please see Issue 12 of the BIOLYFE newsletter for a brief workshop report.
3-5 April 2013 3rd International Conference on Lignocellulosic Ethanol, Madrid, Spain
The Directorate General for Energy of the European Commission organised the 3rd Conference on Lignocellulosic Ethanol in Madrid in cooperation with Brazil. The Conference was facilitated by Abengoa Bioenergy and the participants were able to visit its demonstration plant at Salamanca.
26-30 August 2012 13th International Congress on Yeasts, Madison, Wisconsin, USA
The 13th International Congress on Yeasts took place in August 2012 in the USA, Madison. Second generation lignocellulosic ethanol production was on the agenda together with other interesting topics.
More information on the event is available on the 13th Internation Congress on Yeasts website.
11-13 October 2011
Second International Conference on Lignocellulosic Ethanol, Verona, Italy
Following the success of the First International Conference on Lignocellulosic Ethanol that took place in October 2011 in Copenhagen, the Directorate General for Energy of the European Commission organised the 2nd Conference on Lignocellulosic Ethanol in Verona in cooperation with Brazil.
The Conference was facilitated by Mossi & Ghisolfi/Chemtex and the participants were able to visit its research facilities.
The 2nd International Conference on Lignocellulosic Ethanol was collocated with the XIX International Symposium on Alcohol Fuels (XIX ISAF), 10-13 October 2011.
7 June 2011
First BIOLYFE workshop, Berlin, Germany
The production of energy crops and the sourcing of agricultural residues at a larger scale is one of the critical steps in implementing environmentally and economically sustainable supply chains for lignocellulosic ethanol. However, large-scale agronomic experience is rather scarce regarding lignocellulosic feedstocks. This workshop aimed at exchanging existing experience and at discussing factors influencing the sustainability of the resulting supply chains.
The First BIOLYFE workshop was organised as a side-event of the 19th European Biomass Conference (6-10 June 2011 in Berlin, Germany).
Please see Issue 5 of the BIOLYFE newsletter for a brief workshop report.
